Artist: Cobalt
Album: Gin
Genre: Black Metal
Year: 2009
Origin: USA
Gin is a progressive black metal album that really made the rounds on the Internets this past year. It is rather unique for the genre, and I'm not at all surprised it attracted so many new fans. The percussion in particular doesn't sound anything like you'd expect from a black metal band, and I've seen comparisons to Tool, which I don't want to get into, but that's just to say that this isn't just coming out of the black metal tradition. There's a lot going on in this complex recording, and I'm not sure I've even processed it properly yet, but I definitely recommend this download.

Tis a very good album, but I think their earlier work, Eater of Birds, is even better. It matters not, really, because they're both monstrous.
This album was my introduction to Cobalt. Thanks for the recommendation though, I'll try to find Eater of Birds too!
I made a patch(embroidery is awesome) and put it on a camo shirt. Gotta love this shit!
